Last year we watched the fireworks from near the London Eye. I was wearing about 15 layers including my football socks and we had a flask of hot mulled wine to keep us from freezing. The atmosphere in London was a bit sinister, people threw beer cans at midnight (we hope they were full of beer...).

Not hard to beat really and we opted to see in 2010 watching the fireworks over Marina Bay. We had spent the day with Ian and Khine on Sentosa Island, but staying there for New Year wasn't an option for us, at $5 for a soft drink we were priced off the island !

We got to the bay at 7.30pm and found a place to sit down, there was a big screen nearby and we watched bands play as families shared picnics around us. Floating in the bay were 20,000 plastic spheres, wishing spheres - we knew this because we'd been on the Marina Bay website and submitted our own wishes. We thought it was a nice sentiment, hope for a new year. The fireworks were spectacular and washed down with gin and lemonade.

Happy New Year - I have a feeling 2010 is going to be a good one :)
