Where I stayed

Finally the grey sky had cleared and the deep blue hue we have come to know and love is back. It is definitely the icing on the cake, for what is the best beach in Thailand.  A spell had been cast over us as this day, which turned out to be an eventful one we will both remember for the rest of our lives together.

In a moment of teenage madness, fueled by the prospect of drinking some beer, we hired two gigantic inflatable inner tubes to float on the sea and watch the sun retire; ah, it was like Vang Vieng all over again!  The sea is so clear here, that we drifted over coral and could see the fish swimming below us.  For the last few days the sun had never properly set, however this evening was a different story. The sky turned bright orange, almost as if it burst into flames.

As we bobbed together, holding onto each others tubes and taking silhouette photos of our feet against the sky. Emma turned to me and uttered my name, before bursting into tears. Deep down I knew what was about to happen. I put the camera away, turned round and prepared myself.

The words "Will you marry me?" followed. I think my exact words were "Wow..... Yes of course I will marry you.". I planned to pop the question myself when we returned to the UK next year, but I don't mind that Emma beat me to it!  This moment will be everlasting for the both of us, and was the perfect way to end our time in Thailand.

In the morning we found a nice jewelery shop and bought a temporary engagement ring. Two shells in the shape of hearts, with the Thai script for 1 written in each, check out the photo!  It has been really difficult to keep this quiet for the last two weeks, but my parents have been on a cruise and we wanted to tell them first before revealing it to everyone else.
