We managed to fail miserably at getting out of Bangkok, and it was basically totally our own fault. We knew the train was at 8:05am and although we hadn't booked tickets in advance we presumed it'd be fine, that was mistake number 1, number 2 was misjudging the Bangkok traffic, which is horrendous. We left out amazing hostel at 6:30am thinking it'd only take half an hour in a taxi and we'd arrive in plenty of time to get our ticket and get breakfast before the train, well we were still in the taxi an hour and a half later so we arrived at the train station with only 20minutes to get ourselves a ticket. Needless to say that didn't happen, as in addition, the train was full. Anyway so decided to get a taxi to the bus station to get a ticket there and hopefully still get out of Bangkok that morning, again unfortunately the buses only went really early morning or evening. So by 9am we had our bus ticket for 6:30pm that evening. We were also in the bus station with our bags and sunburnt shoulders and not much inkling to move anywhere else, so we spent a thrilling 9 hours outside a 7-Eleven with a brief jaunt to a KFC for lunch, really living the Thai lifestyle :) We did chat and play cards with a British girl who'd married a Thai guy and was living in Phuket so they gave us some local knowledge which was cool.

Anyway we got on our bus and eventually got out of Bangkok, the bus was to be 12 hours and it wasn't a sleeper bus so we got an even worse nights sleep than on the Chinese buses! Never mind we were happy to be gone. We arrived on Ko Samui which is an island after the bus and maybe an hour and a half boat ride. The sun was rising while we were on the boat at about 5:30am which was pretty beautiful. We got in a proper Thai bus thing to the place we staying on the island which was good, even if we didn't really care at this point cos we were so tired. And then we got there and the place we had decided to stay at wasn't open yet as it was only 8am, we really should start booking things in advance....

Whilst we were hanging around being harrased by touts and watching a lady-boy who was balatently still up from the night before we met these two irish girls who were in the same situation as us so we clubbed together to try and find somewhere to stay. Me and Danielle went of hostel hunting whilst Raywood and Anya stayed with the bags, in the end we found a couple of pretty cool bungalows WITH air con for fairly cheap which was good. We were only a stones throw from the beach so spent the rest of the day sunbathing, although at one point some Germans got angry with us cos we'd stolen their sunbed, it only had random hotel towels on it so how were we to know?! Bloody Germans and their sunbeds.

That night was St Patricks day party time which was always going to be crazy, we'd found some irish now aswell so had another excuse to party. We spent the night in an Irish pub called Tropical Murpheys (!) generally speaking to everyone in a friendly Irish way. We pretended we were also from Donegal, which worked quite well. At one point another Irish guy was convinced I was really Irish and Anya was making it up haha.

The next day we tended to the hangover with McDonalds and sorted out the aforementioned Lunar based partying. The Irish were even more dead than we were and didn't even appear till after 2pm, we got the boat to the next island, Ko Phangam at about half 6 and started on the old buckets (of alcohol in case you were wondering), we were sat on the full moon beach and by half 11 or so were wondering were the party was, turns out we weren't actually at the Half Moon party place, that was in the jungle in the middle of the island, when we got there we realised why the beach had emptied because the place was rammed! And entirely full of westerners. It was amazing! We had such an awesome time, no photos though (sensibly) we had bought disposible cameras and theres no way cameras would come out of it unscathed. We got day-glo body paint done and drank our buckets and danced like maniacs. Until 2:30 when everyone was just getting going and they stopped the music. We have no idea why, people were saying about a raid but we never saw any police or anything. So everyone started to wander off, unfortunately for us we couldn't get a boat back to our island until 8am so were kind of stuck. So we just wandered back to the full moon beach and there was quite a few other people and someone with a guitar. This was all fine until I stupidly wandered off just a little way to have a sit down, I fell asleep with my head on my handbag as a pillow and woke up with a start not long later, I noticed a thai guy sat just over my shoulder, I looked again and the git had his hand in my handbag! I started saying this to him, quite indignately and then looked through my handbag to see what was going on, then when I looked up again he was gone, as was my purse.
This was quite annoying as usually I kept my bank card in my moneybelt but this time I forgotten to put it back after taking money our eariler that day. So he had that and maybe 15 pounds which was very annoying. Well, it could have been a lot worse if I'd had my camera with me or something like that. And I can always use EmmaRs bank card for taking out money. Never mind.

Anyway I'd recovered from being really angry/upset we went for a morning dip in the sea, as you do, and got the ferry back at about 9am and went straight to bed. Another day of recovering/sunabthing for the next day and then early early next morning we got up to Ko Phi Phi, but this thing is long enough now, that'll do.

Love the Emmas xx
