Even though we could have slept in - we didn't. Overnight there was a huge thunderstorm - we also scored a direct hit. Liz slept through most of it while Dawn kept watching the lightning and sheets of rain - this was the tail end of the typhoon that hit Japan this week. They also have another one coming. We were surprised by the calmness of the sea despite the storm - actually Liz was pleasantly surprised as she hates it when the ship rocks and rolls.

We had a delightful breakfast with 6 other Aussies and we all shared stories of the cruise - mostly good but some not so good. Seems as if most people were a bit dissatisfied with the food choices and also the entertainment and activities. Seems as if they were catering for the Chinese so enlarged the casino and thought that would be good enough. Well for the Chinese it was - they spent a lot of time in the casino except when they were doing karoke and participating in the dancing competitions. We wandered around the ship and at about 11am found outselves in the shopping area just when the watch sale started. OMG .... its was a nightmare with the Chinese virtually ripping boxes out of the shop assistants hands and ripping them open to get as many boxed watch sets as they could carry. I likened it to feeding the piranahs at the aquarium - the behaviour was disgusting and even the security guard could not break it up. People were pushing and shoving and punching just to get at these watches - amazing really when they could have purchased the same thiings in Busan and also back home in China for about half the price. I would certainly hope never to be in Beijing for the Boxing Day sales.

Remarkedly we didn't actually buy any of the watches but Dawn did try and buy two T-shirts. Trying to pay for them was difficult as she was pushed out of the way by everyone and their cousin. Eventually the shop assistant took pity of her and told the other girl taking the money not to serve anyone before me. I paid and got out of there. Liz was standing in the background otherwise she would have been trampled.

They had onbaord entertainment with some great singers and musicians - we watched a few of them and sang along sometimes. There were lots of people up dancing including an older couple where the lady danced rock and roll with a walking stick - she was very good. It was generally just a party day with balloons etc floating around. We had to make sure all our bags were packed and really for collection before we went to bed. That in itself was a task as things just didn't fit in as well as they did when we left - this was despite us hardly buying anything. Cant understand that but we made it.

We did manage to make the final entertainment extravaganza - the best part were the 10 most stupid questions asked of the cruise director including-

Do the staff sleep on board - answer no they just love that early morning commute on the jetski

Does the ship generate its own power - no we have a very long extension lead and are currently winding it back up as we head into Tainjin.

How high are we above sea level - depends on which deck you are on

There were seven more just as weird but so so funny we nearly cried with laughter.

The ship arrived in Tainjin right on time - must say we have been amazingly punctual into each port. Disembarkation was quick and simple - much different than embarkation but there was no way they could have been worse than that.
