We awoke this morning bright and early to enjoy the sunrise over the Flinders Ranges - no train to impede our view as it had very, noisily left during the night.  Packed up after brekky and headed north.  Stopped at Pimba for morning tea - very busy place. Pimba is in the middle of nowhere (except it is the turnoff to Roxby) but there were  stacks of people at "Spud's Roadhouse" - some even camped there in the caravan park - which was very bare!

Fairly uneventful day followed. Topped up with fuel at Glendambo,

stopped for lunch at a roadside stop and were deluged by our first round of outback flies.  Ate quick and headed off again.  The country was pretty uninspiring - mostly flat with small stumpy bushes and plenty of saltbush.  It was interesting though, how frequently it changed from no trees, to bushes to mostly grass stuff and back again.  At least until we got within about 100 km of Coober Pedy.  Then it was just barren!  No trees, small bushes occasionally - even the saltbush struggled.  It was very forlorn. Then when we approached CP, the only change was a dramatic increase in the heaps of waste from the opal mining.

This is quite a reasonable caravan park.  I took the sunset photo from our "back door".

Happy travels
Hi Lib and Mike,

Love this TravelPod website. Great idea to keep tabs on you. Of course it will just make me jealous on a daily basis. Enjoy the flies. There will be plenty more. The best thing we bought in Alice Springs was the fly nets you wear over your hats to keep flies off your face. Highly recommend them.
