Today we left from school at about 10 a.m. for Sorrento! I'm glad it wasn't earlier because last night I went out with my friends to celebrate the end of midterms and we got back really late. Or really early, whichever you prefer. The bus ride was not bad at all even though it was five hours, probably because I slept literally the entire time and only woke up for lunch.

We got to Sorrento around three and checked into our hotel, which was right on the Corso! Each Italian city has a corso, which basically means the biggest boulevard. It's a perfect location because we were right by all of the shops and restaurants and it only takes about ten minutes to walk down to the port, where we had wine and appetizers and later went back to a different restaurant for dinner. We went to a restaurant called Vela Bianca that the hotel had suggested for us, and I had walnut chicken. It was so delicious, I'd never had walnut sauce before! After dinner we went to a karaoke bar off of the corso with some other students from our program because there were some student deals. It was so funny watching some people sing.

I loved Sorrento. It has only about 17,000 people so it's really quiet and quaint. It has the best views of the Bay of Naples. It should be overrated because it doesn't really have any major attractions and just flashy souvenir shops, but I think its small size is why it attracts so many travelers. When I think of Italy, I think of quiet and beautiful seaside towns like Sorrento.
