The train ride from Bedford back to London out to Marlow was somewhat an Olympic triathlon with my back and a million sets of tube stairs. When I arrived at the High Wycombe there was Joanne with her smiling face. We were not back at her flat for more than 2 minutes when her good mates came to pick us up for Sunday lunch. Ummm... Roast Beef and Yorkshire Pudding. Marlow is an upscale little town about thirty minutes train ride from London on the Thames River. We spent the afternoon socializing at some of their favorite watering holes. Then next morning we got in the car to drive to Pevensey Bay ( next to Eastbourne on the coast). On the way we stopped at Windsor castle. This is definitely the biggest castle I have ever seen. We wondered through the monstrosity and even got to go through the states rooms. The Queen really only lives her in month of April and a week in June I think. The coolest thing I though was the the 8 or 9 foot doll house they had. It had running water and electricity. I don't' think any one of the "princess" where ever allowed to play with it- too nice. The castle is covered with lots of gold and red- really gaudy and ornate. Then we were off to Pevensey Bay to Bob and Bernie Pages'(Joannes parents)place. What amazing host and hostess they were- the food wine and conversation were all good. Bob owns a fish shop in Eastbourne so we had FRESH fish both night for dinner- what a treat!!!!! I had a long walk on the beach here- funny no sand really only pebbles. A lot colder than Cayman- frost on the ground this morning!
