Where I stayed
Pone Pone's
What I did
eating carrot cake in the bakery
Really not being very good at doing this this time!
I'll try to back track...
So the last thing i wrote about was about the dog that had come in with his eye out etc..
turned out that that dog was actually Nosey, a dog that Gemma had been treating for cancer before- it wasn't the transmitted virus cancer so it kept on spreading too. Well the following day when we went to see him he was a hell of a lot worse.
His breathing was just terrible and when listening to his chest you could hear the bubbling in his lungs as they were filling up. His breath stank of blood so I think it was his lungs filling with blood.
We spoke about it for a while and decided that the best thing to do would be to put him to sleep. Wish I'd done it straight away to be honest but not being a vet you can only wait and see sometimes.
Then we had a cat brought in that same day... apparantly not eating or drinking although when I gave it some fish it wolfed it down! The next day it was clear that the cat had a 'cold' so I gave it some antibiotics to clear up the respiratory infection and the owners finally picked him up last night like 3 days late!
Theeeen had a phone call about some abandoned puppies at the childrens home, so headed down there to find 3 of the 6 puppies so took those back to Pone Pone's for a couple of nights. The other 3 puppies the children had taken so no idea where they are now, hopefully being looked after. If not I'm sure I'll get a phone call soon. They are the naughtiest puppies I have ever encountered. I had to wake up at 5am or they would scream and scream, then at night if I didn't sit and wait till they fell asleep they would scream. At some point they went into Pone Pone's room and shit on her clothes! Just exhausting. We had hoped to keep them there and find them homes without having to bring them to the sanctuary but no such luck. So that's +3 to the total.
And then! When Natasha was at the temple visiting the monkeys, she'd got some coconut shells with holes in to fill with fruit for some enrichment. She found a puppy while she was there that had a terribly infected eye that looked like the pupil had popped out.. Natasha's Mum named her Ponnie, after Pone Pone!
So on the Monday we took Ponnie to the vet to have her eye removed. They couldn't do it on that day so she had to stay overnight... I went to go and pick her up the following day and by the time I got to the vets they had shut! The bus driver decided to stop when it rained heavily so it took a lot longer to get there. I didn't fancy going back to sangkhla just to come back again in the morning for the 3rd day in a row.. So i walked until someone took pity on me and gave me a lift to Sai Yok Noi and got a room at the Cola Hotel! It was pretty vile!!
Didn't sleep a wink and watched far too much crappy thai tv.
So picked up little Ponnie in the morning and brought her back to Sangkhla and now we are both at the bakery! She's having a fight with my flip flop as I type. Hoping to be able to take her back to the temple when she's better but I can see that not happening! I'd want to spay her first anyway so can see when she's had that done.
Last night I went to see the dogs and noticed that Huskey looked really odd. He looked completely out of it and almost drunk? So I picked him up to bring him in and look him over and he screamed. I got him inside and lay him on the table and he looked like he was going to go into shock. I checked all his joints and stomach and all seemed fine. But he just kept moaning and shaking. I put him on a drip for a while and gave him some pain killer and got him in a cage and comfy for the night. So will go and see how he is shortly but have no idea what to expect..
Going to pick up Greg- a volunteer who is arriving in Bangkok on Friday evening so not looking forward to the bus rides again so soon! But at least i've figured out where is the best place to sit and not get knocked out on the window or anything.
Have some photos to upload but haven't got round to it!
So a very busy week so far. And Natasha is leaving on Sunday- need to find a way to sabotage it so she can't go...mwahaha
A monk has died today so at the temple opposite the bakery they have been shooting guns in the sky and letting off some dynamite so I practically peed myself walking down. Sounds like a war is breaking out haha
So there are now 4 more dogs to feed so I think we are around the 30 mark now.
and being puppies they need wet food mainly and a few times a day so the pennies are mounting up more than usual!!!
