Where I stayed
Grandma's Laundry (Pon Pon and Grandma's house)
Well I am most definitely very very far from home!
It's a shame i wasn't able to write as soon as i got here because this country is just...indescribable.
i just googled that word to check the spelling and it was all in thai!
I read loads and thought i kind of knew what it was going to be like, but i was wrong.
And Bangkok is at the other end of the spectrum to Sangkhlaburi.
To start things off the flight was...okay and then from Abu Dhabi to Bangkok i have never wanted to pull my hair out more!! I had THE rudest, most arrogant French twurp sat next to me. He had his headphones on that loud that it was like a stereo, he spat his food out on me, threw things at me!!! And would randomely burst into fits of laughter at nothing! My god i could have punched him. And the lack of sleep didn't help!
The electricity just went off then haha
I really cannot put into words where i am!
I was really unsure at first, like i was thinking i may really need to find some form of hotel type place!! But then you come to realise you have everything you need and that you have so many luxuries at home. Not that i don't miss them, god no.
But Bangkok, hmm it wasn't my cup of tea to be honest with you. We stayed on Kho San Road i think it was called that and the place was gorgeous, had a pool but i slept so missed that!
I just found it very uncomfortable there. The air was so thick and the people literally jump on you i felt like holding Gemma's hand!!!!
but it was an experience.
We got the bus to Kanchanaburi the next day- yesterday..i think! and then from there to sangkhlaburi.
8 hours
No wonder Gemma said we should stay in Bangkok haha I thought it was like 4!
The journey here was stunning though i literally sat facing the window gawping like a fish at the window!!
Everything is so natural and untouched.
Now to tell you a bit about my room hahhaaaa
Well.
I have a mat! It's really nice actually,
Erm a fan, was so so grateful for that.
Oh yeah and whoever put the idea into my head that it wouldn't be hot or at least didn't warm me how hot then i will punch you when i get home. Literally my face is leaking all the time and i'm sweating in places i didn't know existed! (Sorry Matthew)
my bed is um a plank of wood ontop of these concrete type block things with a thing on top but i don't think it iis a mattress. It's custom here to just sleep on wood.
But i have my own loo and shower! Cold water which is all you need here. the ants are a bit annoying in there but then you don't tend to stay squatted for long hahah oh i'm so delightful
Pon Pon is so welcoming and would give you everything. Always smiling and her English is incredible. And Grandma! When i first saw her i was like wow you look like you're out of a film.
i wound't need to go on so much if i had taken enough pictures but today was spent mainly cleaning Gemma's house. Dogs don't wipe their paws and her home was covered in mud.
I will introduce the dogs once i remember their names!! There are 18 i think that stay with her and they can tell the sound of her moped and they all howl together in a chorus it's the funniest thing!!!!
After we did some cleaning and basically throwing water on the floor i wanted to spend some time with sick dog. He's been there maybe 3 weeks now and is apparantly a lot better than he was but to me it was hard to see. Very very skinny and lethargic and head to toe in ticks and fleas and with his creamy white fur you can just see them all. Gemma isn't sure what is wrong with him cuz the vet said he would be okay but he isn't getting better and is sick a lot. But i sat with him today and started pulling the ticks off. Never thought id be doing something like that but hey. I think i was doing it for maybe half n=an hour before the mosquitos started eating me alive and i filled a pan with maybe 30 odd and that was mainly the big ones so i hope he starts to feel a bit perkier. i will load some photo's of him tomorrow cuz i'm too tired!
There's one called Elvis who i want to cuddle so much but he's so stinky, and it's not his fault so i feel awful! He had distemper when he was little and it affected his jaw and sinus area so his bottom teeth point to the side rather than the front and he pulls faces like an old man wwithout his teeth in!!!! i think it's to do with his sinus problems that make him smelly. and he sneezes when he's excited but it sounds nothing liek a sneeze! and he twitches from having had distemper but it looks as though he has hiccups! So he's gorgeous but i can't get too close as it's too strong bless him.
There is Ute who has epilepsy and used to be really lively and a happy dog but now because of her medication she just lies in this hut all day and just looks comatozed. sorry for the spelling.
Potato is the dog that can't use his back legs, but my god he zips around i couldn't believe it!
I helped Gemma take blood from a dog called Piglet today, she was shot and is traumatised. To the point where you could feel her fear and she weed etc it was so upsetting
I hope she will get used to me. Can't describe the feeling when you look into a dogs eyes that has had all these terrible things happen to it. It's hard.
I won't go on i'm too tired and i think only photographs can show what it's like.
Oh and i'm putting off getting a sim card, mainly because i'm likely to miss you all more :]
oh and my mosquito net almost killed me last night, i am giving up on that!
Right well i am off to my bed thing!
i hope everyone is well and i hope you come back to see my photographs, i can't wait for you to see where i am!
Love you all
