Sat on a beach at sunset, with the aromas of BBQ filling the air and a gentle breeze against my face. The last few days have been a bit of a haze. Me and my boyfriend Matt met up in Kuala Lumpur after nearly 5 months apart. We travelled to the Perhentian Islands, on the east coast of peninsular Malaysia. Here we have enjoyed a blissful 7 days together on what I can only describe as the most beautiful island I have seen.

On Easter Saturday the tragic news reached me that one of my flat mates from Bondi had died in a Scuba Diving accident. Elaine Morrow. She had been travelling with our friend Calli in Queensland, Australia with other friends. Elaine did not surface with the girls, as was expected. She was pulled from the water but did not make it, the exact cause of her death is unknown. I have been grieving her for the past few days as I'm sure I will do for some time. God be with her family in these tough times. She was a thoughtful Irish girl with a good heart, we had enjoyed many an evening together with wine, friends and food. We had all shared emotions and helped each other with difficult times. I feel isolated so far away from everyone, with so many unanswered questions.

Elaine had wanted to travel around Asia after Australia so I think of her and what she would want to do if she was here. I have been busy during my time in Malaysia and I do still have things planned, I do not feel that now is the time to share my experiences. May she rest in peace and her memory be strong amongst the people fortunate enough to meet her.
