I cant say I'm a fan of Perth. The buildings are all new, the parks seem to be new too. Too many business people doing the same thing; work in an office in Perth's CBD, go for a run after work with the other 100 or so that suddenly cram the residential areas and live in an expensive, in personal and bland flat. On the flip side there's a community of hippie backpackers that have settled in the suburbs enjoying the good weather and a starting point for journeys further north towards Darwin. I cant say I fit into either of these groups.

I'm no history expert but I wouldn't think any of the buildings in Perth are more than 50 years old. The sun shines more and its warmer all year round but I didn't feel the same warmth I have felt in previous cities. The people do not seem so friendly, people go to Perth to work not to enjoy
themselves. I found the lack of culture and community feeling made me question the heart of Perth.

I did however spend a nice day in Freemantle, a 30 minute train journey from Perth city centre. This place has history. Harbours, beaches, museums, an old city centre, town hall, cafe culture, old train line, quaint buildings and scenic walks and views around the town.

A brief stay in Perth, just 2 days and 1 night. Next stop Malaysia!
