After a good nights sleep we woke up at around 6am local time (2pm in England - we were chuffed with our effort at sleep!) and after a shower and breakfast we felt ready for the day. We set off at 9am and had an amazing day and got to see loads of Vancouver. Below are the highlights:

• Walked to Stanley Park (massive park surrounded by the water) where we walked around the Lost Lagoon, saw a lighthouse and various famous sculptures including totem poles, saw loads of black squirrels, Canadian geese and a heron (I think that's what it was)... Whilst I was looking on the map for a place to eat, Nick got down on one knee and PROPOSED! It's safe to say I was pretty stunned (and very happy); it was so lovely where we were - overlooking the water and downtown Vancouver.

• Walked to the Cactus Club - a restaurant recommended to us by a very friendly park ranger that we had met at the park. It overlooks English Bay so we could see Vancouver island, mountains and the Harbour where all of the ships were coming in and out of the Pacific. Also, by luck, we were seated by the window and other people were having to wait longer for those seats! The food, cocktails, ale (Nick was very chuffed) and service were amazing and when the waiter found out that we had just been engaged he gave us a free sharing dessert - I couldn't stop talking about how lovely he was after that!

• We spent the afternoon/evening wandering through the main part of town looking at shops, buying cheap souvenirs and taking photos of the sites before heading back to the hostel.

We walked all day without using public transport so got to see loads and are planning on popping out for some drinks tonight but nick is currently asleep so we'll see how that goes! Such a wonderful day, one that I'm sure we'll both remember forever :) Now to look forward to our journey up to the Rockies tomorrow!
