Last night we went to an English pub that was know for its different
kinds of beer, which was really packed but really fun! I met an Italian
that "studied abroad" at Pitt, Penn State Berks, and CMU. Its a small
world after all! Then we went to this bar called Lion Fountain which is
super fun (but very American). They have t-shirts from all of the
colleges, and we did a Penn state shot with some fellow penn staters.
We definitely want to start going to more local authentic Italian bars,
but for our first weekend it's good to meet more of the American
students in our program. It was cool walking home because the piazzas
were really calm and peaceful and the streets were busy and loud.

It's funny because we technically live in the second floor, but since the ceilings are so high the second floor is actually up 4 flights of stairs! We do have an elevator, but it is not at all like the ones in America. It is super tiny and you have to manually close the door before it will go anywhere... But it can be really fun!

This morning we decided to climb the Duomo. I had no idea how cool this
really was going to be until we got halfway up. First it was a small
staircase that was pretty normal and we went up and up and up. Then, it
switched to the smallest spiral staircase ever and it made me a little
dizzy, but it was so cool. The we got to this walkway that went around
the base of the dome on the inside and we could look down below us and
see the alter and the body of the building. Really freaky if you are
scared of heights, then we continued up the dome in the smallest
corridors that were steeper than ever. Finally at the top, the view
were absolutely breathtaking. I was thinking that it was the coolest
thing that I have ever done. We took a lot of pictures, found our
apartment, looked at all of the monuments and enjoyed the view. Then we
went to the Uffici museum which is also hugeeeeee. We were all very
tired by the time we got there so we didn't stay too long, but with our
museum cards we can go for free anytime we want to! Skyping Larissa now
so Ciao Bella!
