This week has been decent. Only went to one class today since 1 was cancelled and the other I skipped for my TB test. In order to live in Luxembourg you have to get a TB test, a needle poked in your skin inserting a bubble, and an xray. Im not super fond of shots but after going to Africa and getting a million ive gotten better about it. I got the test done on Friday. I was kind of nervous even though ive already had 3 previous to this one. It was over fast, but still hurt. My friend Kelly was tramatised by it and needed a lollipop. Then I had to get a chest xray, inconviently having to take clothes off. The whole process took over an hour because so many of us were there.
So after the test is done you need to come back 3 days later to get it looked at. This is a pain in the ass because the dr offices are not super close. It takes around 15-20mins by train to the nearest one and they are only open from 2-4 most days. So this is not very accommodating. I could have gone yesterday but I would rather skip german since its an excused absence.
We were planning to take the 1:30 train to get there right at 2 to beat the rush. I had to turn in a paper to a prof who I didn’t think would be in his office, but to my surprise he was. It was 1:13 at this point and now he starts talking to me. Im trying to be polite and go with it. Finally he stops talking. I look at the time and its 1:27, SHIT. So I literally sprint to the train station. Approximately a 7min walk. As everyone stares at me running I make my way to the station. Im half way there when I see then train pull up, again SHIT. So now im feelin the burn at this point but keep going. So many people are getting off the train and blocking my way to the train. When I get to the stairs I was burned out. I think I even whinced. I heard the conductor blow the whistle, not a good sign, but I make it to the train. I push the green button to open the door. It doesn’t work so I go to a different one where I thought the conductor was at, again doesn’t open
I get to the office still annoyed and wet. The waiting room is packed as usual. I knew mine would only take a second. They look at your arm and say youre fine. Well finally its my turn. The doctor draws dots around where my arm was pricked. Then he takes out a ruler and starts rubbing it not saying anything. He then says I have a minor reaction. Now I start to get a little freaked out. I know I don’t have TB idiot. After he dicks around some more he tells me it is ok. Well thanks for the scare buddy.
Afterwards I went boot shopping in esch. I was roaming around for a few hours in the rain looking at a bunch of different stores. Got some new boots, score. I was going to study with some girls at their house but couldn’t get a hold of them. I headed home after that. Its nice to come home before 10 unlike most nights
breaking news: my host mom seems to have returned from her indefinite trip to germany. she told me she had no idea when she was coming home. she also stocked up the apples so i had a feeling it would be for awhile. but movement has been detected downstairs and i hear noise. so apparently my host mom is back maybe?
