On the Wednesday morning we had decided to go to the Salvadoran beach for a few days. We woke up and Ramón checked Skype to chat to his brother. We had a very important message, they had found an option for coming to Cancun for Christmas and suddenly we had to start thinking of getting to Mexico for Christmas. We decided to still go the beach and talk again as soon as we got there. We took a bus from the bus terminal and got dropped right at the entrance of El Tunco, the most popular beach town on the Costa del Bálsamo. We took a double room with shared bath at the Tunco Lodge and spent the morning trying to coordinate our plans and also visited the beach and chilled at the pool. El Tunco is a paradise for surfers and we watched the surfers hitting the waves as the sun set. On the way back we stopped to get some ceviche (raw fish and prawns marinated in lemon juice) for only 2.50usd and it was yummy!

The next day I woke up and got a great birthday present, brother in law with family had confirmed flights for Cancun from 21- 31 Dec. The only sad thing was that we would have to talk to Paula and Franco to say that we wouldn't celebrate Christmas in Antigua with them. We invited them of course to come to Cancun to celebrate Christmas and New Year with us, but in the end they decided that it would be too complicated to change their already bought bus tickets for getting back to Panama to catch their flight home. That day we spent most of the day at the beach and trying to figure out how to get from El Salvador to Mexico in a few days. Friday morning we got a bus to Santa Ana via San Salvador as we would have to head north either way and we wanted to take the opportunity to see Santa Ana as we were already in El Salvador.
