The journey to Luang Prabang was probably one of our most uncomfortable yet. Unfortunately the beautiful unspoilt mountainous/jungle scenery comes at a price- the lack of decent roads. Having attended the jungle party in Vang Vieng the previous night we were hoping to snooze our way to Luang Prabang but this was far from possible- the winding bumpy "roads" made staying in your seat hard enough! However our destination was no disappointment after Vang Vieng, in fact it really reminded us of Hoi An (our fave town in Vietnam) in its old traditional housing style. It also has easily the most impressive night market we've come across so far; full of colourful clothes, textiles and tapestries. Yesterday we spent the day wondering the streets getting our bearings and exploring the little boutiques before a quick visit to the town swimming pool where we recognised many familiar faces from previous stops on our travels so far. We also bumped into some of the same people in our hostel 'Spicy Laos' - a pretty grotty hostel but with a fun atmosphere. Today we visited Kuang Si waterfall, one of the largest in the area. Surrounded by jungle and with the same crystal blue water as the lagoon in Vang Vieng it was impossible to resist a swim and once again there was a Tarzan swing to keep us entertained!
