Where I stayed

Today we woke early and had a seven hour bus journey to Jaipur. Despite the lengthy trip boredom was never once an issue. Looking out the window was fascinating. All along the main roads small communities seemed to occupy every nook and cranny of the derelict buildings, along with the various animals that aided them with their daily chores; goats, cows, horses, pigs, elephants and heaps of camels! Arriving in Jaipur was no disappointment either and we found ourselves struggling to know which way to look, there was just so much going on. The streets were completely swarming with people, animals and vehicles. Beautiful colours, market stalls, spices, beggars, cloth and monkeys....everything that is associated with India! Walking along the streets we were greeted like celebrities, children smiled and adults wanted photos. Everywhere kites filled the skies and our noses tingled with the lovely scents of spices and then the repulsive smell of human excrement and decaying bodies. It was just incredible. After a walk we visited the impressive City Palace and had a very authentic meal in a rather grotty cafe but nothing compared to just walking through the streets and observing everything the hustle and bustle around us. I think we are both rapidly falling in love with India!

Great pickies & we are loving following your progress...with the blog it is hard to believe you are actually in that strange land 5000 miles away from home. Are you sure you are not still in your bedroom at Surlingham using some clever app to fool us?
Had any good curries yet?
