Our bags are taken off and we start to leave at about 7.30am. Dave and I consider stowing away but instead amble off onto our coach to take us the 150m to the Antarctic centre (stupid rule have to go on a coach to get off wharf). We say our goodbyes, although there are lots of people on other coaches we didnt get a chance to say goodbye to.
Dump our bags at the centre and head into town to start doing our blog and catching up on emails. This has taken me 3 attempts to write as its taken so long. I know its a lot of detail, as I said before its partly for our benefit, it has also been nice to re-live it myself. We keep wishing we had more people that had done it that we could talk to, almost like a support group. Sounds silly I know!
Then get a taxi to the airport for our flight to BA. As we fly out I hope that we will see Explorer again but it has already left on its next expedition. Instead we have fabulous views of Tierra del Fuego - the islands, lakes, channels interspersed with clouds.
Our flight has a short stop in Trelew, a place I wanted to visit in Patagonia, which has some Welsh speakers. We didnt have time to go properly and as Dave pointed out to me I wouldnt exactly be able to hold a conversation with anyone seeing as my Welsh consists of hello, counting to ten and saying "donī't you stupid boy". Probably wouldnt have made many friends.
We take off again and land about 1am in BA where we frantically call hostels for a space. We get a hotel instead for the same price inc a bathroom and TV in the micro centro (no idea how this differs from the centro) called Hotel Maipu for 70 pesos a night no break inc. We arrive 40 mins later in a taxi, watch telly for a bit as cant sleep but then do for a long time!
