On Jan 22 I had the early ride at Cederberg, 23 km with 450 m climbing. By 10.00 I was ready to leave, passing by Stadsaal caves. Now it was time to drive back to CPT. For almost 100 km dirt roads...and when I got off, Police inspection. Once the police saw the bike they wanted to know if I had 'Lance Armstrong products' with me. In a relaxed way making jokes with SA-police.
I had to do a few passed with some great views! Once back in CPT I went to a Tyre shop to get the flat tyre repaired and brought my bike to a Specialized shop for a check-up of my brakes while friday I was gonna ride the Swartbergpass, with a crazy descent I've been told.

Jan 23 was a relaxing day, spending some time at the swimmingpool and afterwards heading to CPT city for lunch, walking around and dinner. In the evening I realised that I forgot to use sun cream, yep a bit red...

Jan 24 I was gonna leave at lunchtime to Prince Albert after picking up my bike. I had to avaoid the village De Doorns along the highway N1 because of farmerstrikes, so had to do a few mountainpasses instead... Around 18.30 I arrived at a lovely guesthouse!

Jan 25: early wake-up call to climb the Swartbergpas...left at 6.30, after 1h45 I reached 'Die Top', on the way I met one local man riding down. We had a chat for 5 min and he invited me for an early ride the next day for 80 km, but flat. And really early, starting at 5.00 am!!! He warned me that at the top there is strong wind and cold. And yes, the last 6 km I was riding in the clouds, light rain and cold...but I decided to continue, reach the top asap and ride back down. After 2h30 I was back at the guesthouse, 39 km and 1020 m climbing!
Time for a well deserved breakfast! After that I decided to make a tourist tour, driving up Swartbergpas, this time with the car. Going down the other side for a visit at the Cango Caves. For 1,5h under the ground, cooler than outside ;-). After that visiting Wildlife Ranch in Oudtshoorn...I wanted to see a leopard in SA this time :-).
In the evening I went to a local pub for a drink and dinner, great to have a chat with local farmers.

Jan 26: another early wake-up call, this time for a ride of 55 km (680 m climbing) all the way through a beautiful valley. After breakfast time to hit the road, taking Meiringpoort to Oudtshoorn because I wanted to see the waterfalls. From then it was taking Route 62 asap to CPT for a braai.

Jan 27: out of bed at 6.45h while I was gonna meet up with JC at 8.00h at Tokai for another ride (20 km, 480 m climbing and single tracks up and down). Now relaxing and waiting for my pick up at 17.00h to go to Swedish House Mafia!
