Today I was gonna do the trip which was originally planned for Saturday. So I was gonna drive inlands, looking for the sun, while the coast was again cloudy. First I was gonna do the self-drive to the moonlandscape and the mirabillis A well organised trip with beacons along the way, so I do not know where that can go wrong as they told me you could get lost.

The moonlandscape...I have never been on the moon but I can imagine it is similar. A special songs goes with it, of course, Man on the moon - R.E.M. A small video will show you :-).

Leaving the moonlandscape on the way to the mirabillis I spotted 2 ostriches! They choose to come on the road and run and showed me the way. They better run hard, because I love carpaccio of Ostrich :-). Also a funny video of the ostriches attached.

Continuing the way to mirabillis I passed a mining area, only light vehicles allowed. What happens with a heavy vehicle in the third little movie (just joking). At the return point of the road the oldest mirabillis was secured with a fence. These plants doesn't look really alive but they are!

After this guided self-drive it was time to go a bit further inlands to Blutkoppe and the Tirka's. First I saw Blutkoppe = Blootkoppie and then all the way up to Tirka. This was a drive they better did warn me upfront :-). It was a 4x4 drive only, but I can tell you, a real 4x4. A bit scary at some moments, you don't wanna get stuck because nobody else is passing there (I saw 1 car). The rocks were allright, but the sand (lots of sand) worried me a bit. Especially because you don't have mobile reception either...so when you get stuck, or you have to wait or you have to walk. But this is the desert were also leopards get spotted...so I didn't wanna get stuck. Finally I made it and it was probably a good 4x4 training for when I go to Sossusvlei in two days.

So now I only had to drive back 120 km to the resort. I filled up the tank on the way 'home' to be ok for the next trip!

Time for a last dinner at the coast in Namibia! Sardines as a starter and then I could not resist the steak after 2 days fish!

Tomorrow 350 km south to Sossusvlei, but it will take 5-6 hours because of the dusty/sandy roads.

Enjoy the blig so far, it can take a while before I can post something more.
