Hello Everyone,

As the clock struck 12 midnight I was overcome with thanks for surviving the worst storm in history and building a center that could save so many lives. But as 12:01 rolled around I was reminded of the work that is yet to be done.

In the wake of Typhoon Yolanda, there is much left to be done. Millions of individuals were affected by the storm, and millions more will continue to be affected by the consequences of the sorm over the course of the next year.

I may have helped build a center that had the ability to save many lives, but now I am faced with the challenge of building all of their homes so they can rebuild their lives.

The Year 2014 will most definitely be a long road to recovery filled with many challenges, but after spending 2 weeks amidst so many amazing friends and family I feel confident the road will not be traveled alone. Each one of you have helped me achieve the successes of 2013, and I believe there are only more to be had in the new year.

The people of Cangumbang are ready to rebuild, and now I am too. I am determined to continue to devote my time to the community which has become a second home, truly I place where I feel loved and welcome.

First and foremost I must rebuild the roof of the center, and restore the safe haven of Cangumbang. Thanks to the generosity of Holy Angels Church and the Sturgis Community, I am happy to announce that financially this is already possible. I am anxious to get back to Tacloban to begin the construction process once again.

I hope to build as many homes as possible.
I want to provide the educational resources necessary for the children in every way possible.
I wish to give the families hope for the future and a way to more forward each day.

This year I want to establish a steady Nutrition Project in Cangumbang, to continue to help feed the children who need it most and support the parents who resiliently do everything they can to provide for their children. For just $25 dollars we can feed 150 children in need! Email me if you'd like to know more about this new effort (elsa.thomasma@goabroad.com).

The past year has been incredible to say the least. It is more than I ever could have dreamed of, starting with a fit of giddy anticipation for the construction of the center and ending with feelings of amazement at the generosity and support of so many yet again. The challenges that came about in the first half, can't begin to compete with the challenges of the past 2 months. There was much to do when we broke ground in March 2013, but the work to be done currently cannot compare.

I hope that 2014 can be a year filled with many more miracles, big and small...
