Hello Everyone,

This weekend we have a lovely, girly celebration of Mother Mary's birthday with our first official Girl's Day in Cangumbang. Three of my friends came out with me to pamper the girls with a hair salon, nail salon, and make up station! When we arrived and began washing their hair, of course the boys wanted to join in too. So eventually we let them in on the hair washing fun, it became virtually a community bathing event but the children enjoyed it and everyone had smiles from ear to ear. We used lice removal shampoo too, so hopefully there are 20 less itchy heads in the village as well. :)

After changing the girls came upstairs and I set up shop as the hair dresser, my friends Cielo and Tahna worked on make up, and my friend Sharon began a long string of manicures. My hairstyles were simple but the girls were extra excited about the hair accessories from my Mom. The girls loved wearing the lipstick out of all things! (Thanks Alex Toledo!) The manicures were by far the biggest hit, by 5 pm there were still girls who wanted to get one, but we had to retire to Tacloban after an exhausting day.

But not before some dancing, sassy poses, and model walks. It was so great to see all the girls from 3 to 15 feeling extra beautiful. They are all so amazing, and deserve all the pampering they can get! :)

This week I am purchasing all the major kitchen supplies for the center, so it will be a big day Saturday! Not only will be be able to supply all the children their plates, cups, and utensils. BUT I also found out that the stove, which was graciously donated by my Uncle Mike and Aunt Betty, has arrived at the post office! So we will be cooking and eating all in the center this weekend for the first time :) The bathroom is also now completed as well, so I will be purchasing a barrel for water storage and then the children can begin using it whenever they want.

I stopped out in Cangumbang today to pick up Ate Corazon, after receiving numerous urgent texts that she was going in to labor! I am so excited for her, and nervous too. I am going back to the hospital shortly so I can meet the twins after the C-section is completed around 2 am my time. When I stopped in Cangumbang all the children were happily playing upstairs. I love pulling up and hearing their laughter echo from the windows of the center, it resembles a giant tree house at times. I am so happy to have this resource in the community, I never could have come this far without all the love and support of so many people from all over the world.

Eternally, I am grateful.
