Hello Everyone,

This Sunday I spent the entire afternoon in Cangumbang, talking with the children about the blessing, checking out the progress, and encouraging them to practice the dances they have been preparing for this coming Friday. Sunday was also the last day of Brandon, my housemate who has been a video intern for my company for 2 months and developed a relationship with many of the children at my project. He thoroughly enjoyed spending time in Cangumbang, so Sunday was slightly bittersweet.

The children eagerly accepted some pretzel snacks from him while my friend Rachel and I prepared tuna sandwiches for the children. Jon Jon sat inches away nibbling on bread, tuna, or mayo everytime I was distracted. Once the children finished their pretzels they sat down in a circle and Carla (one of the sponsored children) acted as waitress for the day, serving the children their sandwiches off our red plastic platter. I love having the children help with the feedings and activities, it brings an unparalleled community aspect to the day and helps them feel included. The ownership the community has for the center already is beautiful :)

The center itself is looking wonderful, everything is primed and ready for the final coat. All the benches and tables are prepared for sanding and painting as well. Two of the construction workers, Mano Eddie and Kuya Jan were working on Sunday to prepare the sink tiles and one of the bathrooms as well.

Everything is coming together and I am anxiously awaiting Friday. We are going to have nearly 40 people at the site in the morning and in the afternoon, some being my coworkers, my boss's colleagues, and the usual construction team. It will be an epic day filled with accomplishment for the village and VFV.

Wish us luck in the last minute preparations!
