What I did
Placement and Build-A-Home
Hi Everyone,
I had a busy end to the week, working at the orphanage in the morning and finishing out the day at the Build-A-Home. Today Erica and I had a seminar for our upcoming role as Godmothers to the grandchild of my old host family this morning. The seminar was 2 hours long, and completely in Waray-Waray...I understood about 5% of what they said but apparently that doesn't matter. We have the christening tomorrow morning. This afternoon we attempted to go to the beach but upon our arrival it began raining, we have really been having terrible luck lately when we try to get some sun. We ended up at the build a home project again, hammering the floor in today. My computer is low on battery and I want to be sure I get some pictures uploaded, so I will let the pictures speak for me...this is what I have been up to. :)

That septic tank looks pretty questionable... no drain field... I told Dad it would drain fine, it looks like there are plenty of cracks for things to drain through. How often do they get them pumped out if the neighborhood is going to be sharing it? Dad says someone should start a septic business over there!
Why am I not mentioned at all on this post?
The septic tank is high quality for the living conditions here. When it is filled, which will take 15-20 years, there is some type of removal service here. The ground water is not used for drinking or eating, so contamination isn't too big of an issue. The new bathroom is extremely sanitary compared to the current bathroom, which is going in the bushes, or going in a bag and throwing it.
Mark....is another volunteer with VFV who has been helping a lot, like Erica and I, at the Build-A-Home.
Throwing it where?
In the river, in their "backyard", anywhere really....that is why the bathroom is so needed
Why put it in a bag? Seems like it would be cheaper to just go in the bushes than get bags for each occasion.
Just to get it farther away from the house, they wouldn't buy bags for it specifically, just ones they had.
