Hey Everyone,
This week has been a really long week; I feel like I have been very busy.  On Monday I stayed at the orphanage from 8:30 until 3:30, it was a long long day.  After that I went with Nikki and some other volunteers to distribute school supplies and rice to the sponsored children outside of Bliss.  So I didn't get home until like 6.
On Tuesday I woke up feeling really sick.  My head was really stuffy and my chest felt congested. On Monday there was a confirmed case of swine flu in Tacloban.  Because of it I really didn't want to go back to the doctors. I don't want VFV and Bliss to have to be quarantined again.  And of course I don't want to be either when I know I don't have swine flu.  I did go to the doctor's though because my Nanay was really worried about me because I am still coughing quite a bit.  Nikki took me to the hospital and when we got there they had all the entrances blocked off but one.  They had doctors and nurses outside taking people's temperatures before they went in and had a large notice about swine flu posted.  We debated on whether or not we should risk going up to the door because I knew if I coughed at all they would probably quarantine me.  We decided to go because I had my papers and results from a medical exam I got 2 weeks after arriving.  The doctor asked me at the door if I had a cold or cough and even though I obviously do I said no.  Then they asked me when I arrived and they seemed to be reassured since I had been here so long.  We made it through only to find out that the doctor was out of the office for the day, however.  So I didn't end up getting any new medicine.  I might try back next week if I am not better by then.  Wish me luck on getting better.
I also have a bunch of ant bites all over my legs.  We think it is from the sheets on my new bed, the volunteer in the room before me had that problem too.  So I changed my sheets and hopefully the bites will go away.
Today I woke up at 4:30 am so I could go to the airport with Nikki to pick up 2 new volunteers.  Life here begins so early.  There are so many people out when the sun is just rising.  But most people also go to bed early since the sun sets at around 6 pm.
I find my days to be slipping away here.  I feel like there is so much I want to do here and even though I have 6 weeks left it doesn't seem like enough. Each day there is so much I want to get done but there is never enough time.  I just hope I can get everything done by July 26th that I want to here.
Tonight I will be going to my sponsor partner, Mary Rose's, house.  I am going to give her mother a donation, from my cousin Jeff Casault and some of his friends, so that she can have her electricity turned back on.  I am so thankful for Jeff's generosity.
I am hoping to start making plans for Vincent's trip to Manila soon.  The VFV staff have suggested that I be part of the planning as well as the actual trip.  So I will be going to Manila with Vincent hopefully.
I will try to write again before the weekend, I hope everything is going well in Michigan and everywhere else.

Hi Elsa!

I am so happy to read about your adventures there and helping all those children! I was only in Guatemala for one week and it just wetted my appetite for service! I am sorry that you are sick and hope that you feel better soon and that all the bites go away! Hail Mary...pray for us!

Hello Holly,
I am glad to hear you like reading my blogs. I thought about you the other day when I went to visit Vincent, since he is my parent's new sponsor child. Now I understand how amazing it must have been for you to go there. Hope all is going well for you.

Elsa
