Where I stayed
The assailant made off with our bag containing a laptop, camera and passports. Carla realised what happened quite quickly and there happened to a police officer close by. Luckily enough the scoundrels were apprehended and our bag was returned. So we set off for Bariloche a ski resort 20 hours away by bus. The bus was great and dead comfy, we had lunch, dinner and breakfast with plenty of wine included.
We arrived in Bariloche the next morning and checked into our hostel, Periko's, which is lovely. It's really cosy and the staff are so helpful and friendly. Bariloche with all its steak restaurant and bars with great wine is definitely a place we could spent a few weeks in, which is a good job really as Elliot has just broken his arm 4 days into snowboarding! We are going to enroll in Spanish school until Elliot gets better and we'll keep you posted
Well it's now 26th September and Elliot's cast came off 2 days ago, which was great. Nothing was broken, but he does have a pretty bad sprain, so is wearing a wrist support for a bit. We did a week of Spanish school, but we're not really fluent yet, infact we're still getting to terms with saying I am, He is, They are. We're going to practise on our own and then sign up for more lessons in Boliva when we get there. We've also been keeping ourselves busy in the local bar, Antares which has happy hour every day and does a great range of beers including a lovely cream stout!
Eventually it was time to leave Bariloche. We'd been there for 4 weeks and enjoyed practically every minute of our time there (not including Elliot's injury of course). Elliot got in a another week of snowboarding whilst I sunbathed in the garden with the girls who working in the hostel. We decided that if we make as many friends in the whole of the rest of our trip as we did in that one place, we will be very lucky.
On our last night we did a big roast dinner and then hit the local bars until the early morning. I came home at about 5am and Elliot rolled in a hour or so later, having been to the local whiskeria (a dodgy bar with blacked out windows) with Eamonn as it was the only place still open. Whenever the two of them go out, neither of them are able to call it a night!
Oh and if anyone is checking this out for hostel recommendations, stay at Periko's it amazing!
