We had a fairly relaxing morning. We did the washing and caught up on emails etc while waiting for the washing to dry. Then we headed off to Cabrillo National Monument on Point Loma but also has a fantastic view of San Diego bays and beaches. There is a statue of Juan Rodriquez CABRILLO who led a Spanish expedition & was the first person to explore the West coast of America. We walked up to the Point Loma lighthouse and down to the tidal pools. Then we headed off to Coronado Island (which is mainly a Naval base) to the beach and for a bite of lunch. We walked past the Hotel Del Coronado which was built in 1888 and is a fantastic looking hotel (and expensive to stay in). It has featured in many movies including a Marilyn Monroe movie and a Baywatch episode. Tonight we made up a picnic tea and headed down to Ocean Beach to watch the sun set over the ocean. Unfortunately it was cloudy but the sky still looked beautiful and the sea breeze was great for picnic dinner. Some TV viewing and an early night will be in order as we have a very long drive ahead of us tomorrow.
