This morning we left to travel to Spokane, Washington. We drove past Soap Lake which is a lake rich in minerals and thought to heal. The edge of the lake has white deposits along the shores. We saw "Steamboat Rock" which is a National Park. We stopped in Safeway again, the driver told us to buy our lunch there because there is no food at the Grand Coulee Dam.

We stopped at an area called Dry Falls which is 10 times larger then Niagara Falls. The pictures just don't show the depth of this area. We then traveled to the Grand Coulee Dam. It is a gravity dam that was build 1933-1941. The dam is 550 feet in height and 4,223 feet in length. We ate our Safeway lunch there in a picnic area along the dam wall. After lunch, we visited the visitor center where we watched a movie. The center was quite lame!

After leaving the dam we traveled through miles and miles of wheat fields and we both feel asleep. We arrived in Spokane and settled into the Red Lion Hotel by the Park. The park is the Riverfront Park located in the center of town built for the Exposition ‘74, “The World’s Fair.” We walked across a very nice, lighted bridge into downtown and the park. We ate dinner at some pub with 4 other people from MD.

After dinner we walked to the park and went on the Carrousel which is over 100 years old. It is a historic 1909 Looff Carrousel (from Natatorium Park). Lester was able to grab 5 rings during the ride. We walked to "The Joy of Running" sculpture's. This sculpture has many runners of both genders and one in a wheelchair.

Lester and I then rode the SkyRIde which takes you across the rivers falls. Next, we walked to the Red Wagon which is a giant Radio Flyer wagon slide. The handle of the wagon is the slide. This was the nicest park I have been in. It had a wide running path for joggers. It was well lite and very safe. We really enjoyed walking through this park after a long day on the bus.

Tomorrow we leave Spokane and travel to Butte, Montana. Along the way we will stop at Lake d'Alene and Wallace Idaho.

No I played once and didn't win. It was $25 to play. I thought I could spent my money elsewhere!
