As Pooh says in his hum;
The more it snows  (tiddle-de-pom)
The more it goes ( tiddle-de-pom )
The more it goes (tiddle-de-pom)
On snowing

And nobody knows( tiddle-de-pom)
How cold my toes (tiddle-de-pom)
How cold my toes (Tiddle-de-pom)
Are growing

I would like to add another verse

And nobody knows (tiddle-de-pom
How cold my fingers (tiddle-de-pom)
How cold my fingers (tiddle-de-pom)
Are growing.

We went into the Kremlin this morning and although wrapped up in my 5 layers both top and bottom, it was my forehead, cheeks and fingers that were so cold. My fingers especially  hurt when they thawed out.  It was minus 22 this morning and its minus 21 this afternoon. Ouch! I don't think I've ever felt so cold in my finger tips in my life. The Kremlin,when we eventually found the ticket kiosk was quite breath-taking with it's 5 churches. The main entrance has been closed for renovation work  but they don't make it easy for you to find out where the actual entrance is. I don't think that they have heard of Tourist Information.  Only the occasional artefact has a label in English and there was nothing for the French or Germans  either. The photographs speak for themselves of the majesty and magnificence of the churches in the Kremlin.  It must be even more spectacular on a blue cloudless day. We were not allowed to photograph inside.  Bob got a Russian Rocket from one of the officious attendants for putting his scarf and gloves on an exhibition case. We then made our way for some warming soup and we are now safely back and ready to re-pack, yes again! for the real adventure of 6 days on the trans-mongolian train so it's over and out until we reach Beijing.

I'm enjoying your journey ( from the warmth of the study) hugely....I must say, it even LOOKS colder in Moscow than it did in Vilnius, I'm sure I should need something more substantial that either your balaclava or Bob's bobble hat. I hope the train is warm and comfy....I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you and longing to hear about it when you alight in Bejiing. Have a great time.

What a wonderful time you are having and how lucky we feel being allowed to follow your progress. We are eagerly awaiting accounts of the next stage. It seems strange to hear about the freezing conditions and see the snow when it is warm here. Love Moragh
