Where I stayed
Tai and Pierre's Beautiful Condo (where we got spoiled)
The insanity of getting ready, and getting here is finally over, but truly the adventure has just begun. We arrived in San Francisco to a dirty "smoking room" hotel closet. The cigarette smoke coated the dusty wood, and just about as quickly as Alayha could call the front desk for a new room, Rozzi had already pulled out the incense. Thank god for the incense and a working window (suprisngly) because all rooms were apparently booked. Despite our surroundings we had a delicious fresh meal (Thank you mom!) and a good hour of quality t.v before turning the lights out and pretending to sleep for a few hours before our 3 am wake up call. Good morning sunshines! Stumbling around the dark hotel we managed to lug our excess baggage to the other side of the world it felt like. We made it just in time for the earliest shuttle of the morning ( which by the way was already pushing it to make our ridiculously timed flight on time). As we stood in line, already dripping with sweat, we watched as they yelled at person after person about some problem or another, and we continued to shake in our flip flops about the weight of our bags. Hoorah! everything was fine, and we prepared to board our flight to Houston, Texas. Our final, and beautiful destination. (Not! Thank goodness)
After a very spacey four hours of people watching in the airport, we were finally on our way to MEH HE CO! It was a short plane ride, and made even shorter by the unbelievable excitement as we flew over the turquoise water and white sand. After customs, and anticipating the arrival of our bags we walked out of the sliding doors and were greeted by a smiling, golden face and fresh Mexican fruit! Yum! The air was humid and sticky, but smelled sweet and inviting. As we drove the hour to Puerto Aventuras we ate mango, kiwi, papaya, banana, and felt immediately comfortable in Tai's presence. We were suprised to drive into a gated complex, filled with fancy hotels, vacation homes, golf course, and Dolphins(which was our first stop). A delirious swim in the pool right outside her condo, and delicious dinner made for a good first night, that led to our Mexican blanketed princess beds:)
We woke up in the lap of luxury, and spent the morning eating fruit, granola, yogurt, and jumped in the pool to wake us up. The afternoon we went with Tai into town (Playa Del Carmen). We walked around the touristy plaza and felt thankful our home base will be in the Jungle. We ate a deleciousssoooo Mexican lunch, bought some groceries. Then we were off to see the jungle Palapa. We drove into the thick trees and stopped off at an underground cenote cave (one of many in the area). We walked up to the Palapa, the openness makes you feel a part of the jungle. The roof is giant leaves that expand when it rains, and we were greeted by a baby tranchula in the sink which Tai showed us how to remove for they commonly hangout in that spot. We followed her trying to suppress our squeals of terror, and our stomachs turned when she said "That was a BABY one!", but not all the animals are as unwelcoming in our eyes, we made a furry friend named Machas. A young guard dog that loves Tai, and will be spending much time with us once we venture to the jungle home. There is a sweet, family oriented village around the bend that has most of what we will need, and the beach is only fifteen minutes following.
On our way back to the Condo, we stopped off at the beach for our first quick dip in the warm, crystal clear water. We followed a small crowd through the sand to discover they were carrying baby turtles that had just hatched and were about to be released. We watched as the tiny tiny bodies found comfort in scooting and flapping through the sand to mama Ocean. It was a magical experience as the sun set, the moon was nearly full and the pink clouds hovered as they too watched the turtles take their first strokes in the water. We returned home to another relaxing night filled with delightful food and laughter as we crawled into our beds in disbelief that
was our first day here, for its felt its been a week already!
We woke up to another beautiful, sunny morning, and with the taste of sweet papaya on our tongue and the moist air tingling our skin we are ready to welcome a new day!
We send all of our love back home, and will be carrying you with us every step of this journey.
Te Amo! Xx
