Yesterday I was watching Desperate Housewives and after the episode it showed scenes from next Sunday's episode.  Slowly it dawned on me that by that point I will no longer have American television.  I can't believe that I'm down to less than 100 hours until I leave the country.  Things are getting real.  Here's what I know so far about my semester:

I'll be staying in Alicante, a city of about 300,000 people on the East coast of Spain in the Valencia region.  The more I read about Alicante, the more I love it.  I'll be living much closer to the beach than to the school.  There are some "mountains" as my Tulsa friends would call them (ahem, Turkey mountain) including some with castles.  The temp rarely falls below 40, even in January and there are only about 2 days of rain every month.  Alicante has a big airport so I won't have to worry about getting to a bigger city when I want to go on vacation, but at the same time there aren't too many tourists so I'll actually have to use my Spanish all the time.

I don't know much about my host family yet.  It'll be a surprise for when I meet them Sunday after orientation.  All I know for sure is that I have a host mother named Maria.  I'll update everybody about the rest of the family as soon as I meet them.

Right now I'm kind of an emotional wreak about everything.  Of course I'm excited about everything I'm going to do and see, but I'm also stressed about everything I still have to do, homesick for Tulsa, and worried about everything that could go wrong.  Considering that I'm still with my family right now, I can't even imagine how I'm going to feel when I leave Colorado.

I can't promise that I'm going to be the best blogger, but I'll try.  Thanks for reading if you remember to do so.  I'll have stories and pictures next week!
