Flew to the island of Oahu, Hawai'i and stayed in Honolulu for 2 nights and then flew to Hilo on the Big Island which is the real Hawai'i. Oahu is just like America with Palm trees - all the stores you'd expect, including the obligatory Starbucks and McD's.
Stayed at Kalani Oceanside Retreat for a week and just relaxed, ate great VEGAN Friendly food, had several Massages - including the Hawaiian Lomi-Lomi massage, went to the Champagne ponds - to go swimming with Turtles, unfortunately they were off partying somewhere elsewhere - just our luck with wild animal viewing! (Although we did go Dolphin Dancing, but that's another story for our return!) Went off=roading on the old Lava flows and saw the latest lava flow at dusk - very spectacular and not dangerous for us.
Big scary spiders, big surf crashing on the sharp lava shores - all in all a lovely place.
We have just heard news on 4th Dec that there was a big erruption in Hawai'i (which has been long overdue), so lucky we left when we did!!
