Quick breakfast and then off again to Georgetown to see the Khoo Kongsi, largest of the kongsi, as it had been closed the day before. Drove around through the streets, and checked out some of the old mansions before going back to Khoo Kongsi. It is hidden in a square accessed by small lane ways between shopfronts and houses, a defence tactic for old time clan warfare and useful for the secret societies during the war. The Khoo is amazing, by far the most elaborate of all the kongsi and faces an equally elaborate Chinese theatre across the small square. The over-touristy displays and exhibitions tale away from the charm a little, but it is still an impressive sight.

We stopped off at Gurney Drive on our way back to try the famous Penang nasi kandar in a hawker restaurant. They gave us a plate of rice with a combination of sweet and spicy curries, meat, cabbage, and an egg omelette. It was soooo tasty. Amazing food, and the owners were so happy that we love it.

Back to the resort for a lie by the pool and a swim, as well as a couples massage in the resort spa cabana...mmm so relaxing.

Finished our day with a walk along the beach into town as the sun was setting, dinner at Long Beach and final shopping the night markets.

Rode in a neon trishaw back to our resort, crazy locals :)

Malaysian experiences:

- Khoo Kongsi
