So. The newest rigmarole in the Grand Canyon saga: the hat. We head out to our local outdoors store here in Tucson, to pick up "a couple of things". My brother (Keith), my sister-in-law (Christina) and I spent most of the time sitting on the outdoor chairs in the store and making fun of my parents as they went through the whole store, piling up purchases. At one point my mom comes over:
Mom: Do you have a hat?
Me: Yes.
M: What Kind?
E: My Briar Patch one.
M: You mean a Baseball Cap?
E: Yes.
M: Not good enough. go get another hat.
E: But you said it was good enough before we even left.
M: Doesn't cover the back of your neck.
E: That's like saying I can't wear a short sleeve T-shirt because it doesn't cover my arms.
M: JUST GO GET ANOTHER HAT!
Dad comes over. D: What's going on?
M: She only has a baseball cap.
D: That's not good enough, go get another hat.
Me: Good lord.
For Contrast, this is the exchange with my parents and Keith (who was in the same situation):
M: Do you have a hat?
K: Yes.
M: Ok.
Christina: It's only a baseball cap!!!
K: Shut up Christina
So yeah, in the end, we both had to get new hats, pictures below:
In other news, we ended up going to the local mission on Sunday (attempted to go for mass, but my dad hadn't set his watch correctly and didn't get there until 10 minutes too late. Anyhow, it's called San Xavier del Bac, and the decor is somewhere between ornate and gaudy spanish missionary style.
Later on that day we all crashed a local hotel pool, including Terry and Keith jumping in (possibly pushed?) in their clothes and a valiant attempt to throw Christina in. I escaped the terrorism by pointing out my jeans would dye the pool blue.
Anyways, Today we went down to Tubac which is about 10 miles from the mexican border. (On the way back we even got asked if we were US citizens at a border control checkpoint!!) Anyhow, there was some shopping done, and I got a really really cute pair of amber earrings... no pictures yet, but you'll survive. Anyhow, it's time to pack up the backpacks for the Grand Canyon on Thursday (we leave tomorrow to go pick up Tim (my other older brother) in Pheonix and then down first thing on Thurs! I promise tons and tons of pictures at all given points, including the GIANT packs that we're all going to be carrying thanks to the inability of anyone in my family to leave anything behind. Ciao!
