Clark awoke, reminiscing about all the interesting folks he has met on this journey.  As a smile over took his face, he reflected upon the fellow he met at the little campground outside of Washington, DC.  Clark, busy plugging quarters into the clothes dryer, looked up to see a sort of ordinary looking fellow in his late 50s and bib overalls come bumbling into the laundromat. "Hey there, where ya from?" Clark was the first to issue the standard RV greeting. "Small town in Tennessee, near Knoxville" the fellow replied. Pleased with his command of the RV lingo, Clark fired back, "How long ya been here?" "'Bout 4 years." the man replied with a drawl.  Wait, that doesn't make sense, thought Clark.  The story unfolded that Marv works 3 weeks in DC, but stays here in the campground sort of under cover,  then goes on assignment abroad for a few weeks, then returns to his hamlet in Tennessee for 3 weeks.  Excitedly, Clark asked Marv where his last assignment was. "In and around Pakistan", Marv replied.  Pleased with his interrogation, Clark asked if he worked for the gov'ment. Yup. "Doin' what?" Clark inquired.  "Now if I told you that, I'd have to kill you!" Marv said.  Clark decided to fold the laundry in the camper that night but thought it was pretty exciting to have been doing laundry with a real international James Bond type! He wished he could have asked more questions, but, didn't dare take the chance.

Again, living the life of mystery and intrigue, Clark and Ellen are going to hook up with friends in the Hudson River Valley.  What makes this visit full of mystery and intrigue, is the fact that the Smithersteins are in the Witness Protection Program, so I'm sworn to protecting their identity. Mum's the word as far as I'm concerned since it's a free place to dock the S.S. Monica!   The trip across Jersey was uneventful which is good considering the events that we thought could  happen!  Our excitement continued to build as we circled the mega metropolis.  With  directions only a true professional could provide, we easily found our way and slipped into "the neighbor's" driveway undetected, just as planned.  "The neighbor's" was perfect, as there were high hedges and foliage hiding us from view. We even had enough room to come and go in our car, appearing as any other house guest.  We dropped our leveling jacks out on the perfect, new, blacktop driveway, extended the slide out, and quietly
waited for the knock that we thought would never come.  Finally, as the sun was setting over the bluffs, they appeared, all four of the Smithersteins. After our initial, joyful reunion in the RV, we crept through the bramble through the secret path to their place next door. Hours later, with satiated tummys and warm hearts, the Griswolds started back through the forest to "The neighbor's".  Enroute, Clark heard footsteps nearby and saw a shadow dart through the trees. With reflexes of a warrior, he bolted forward, racing to the RV when Rusty said "Dad! Look! It's a deer!" And sure enough, it was.  Two in fact.  Oddly, they seemed to be smiling when  Clark looked back at them enroute to "The neighbors."
