Beth arrived in the golf cart about 8:30am loaded with chairs, boogie boards, floaties, umbrella, etc. ready to head on over to the beach.  The Griswalds loaded up their wares onto the cart and got in.  We must have been quiet the sight as we had things on top, sticking out every-which way and we weren't sure if the cart would make it before rolling.  We made our way across the street and arrived safely without dropping anything!  WOW!!!  SUGAR for sand!!!!  White and finely milled sand with gently moving surf.  What a paradise.  This early in the morning we had our pick of where we wanted to land.  Not only did we find ourselves on a perfect beach but we had perfect weather.  The rest of the Smathers clan arrived and Lee generously shared his skim board and tried to teach the other kids how to use it.  They had some good attempts, but there just wasn't enough surf that day.  The water was warm and nice enough to stay in and chit chat the day away.

We ate some lunch and watched the kids play in the sand, creating sea serpents and whales, before we decided that we all had enough sun for the day.  We made plans for dinner and ran off to the store to get the necessary items. We grilled some tasty steaks  amongst the artfully created atmosphere at the Beach Box.  We tried Lee's crazy but delicious steak sauce concoction.  We all agreed he should bottle it.  Rhonda joined us for some frivolity and offered to take us over to the state park to watch the alligators.  We used our spot lights looking for 2 eyes shining back at us in the dark of night.  We found a gator!  We threw marshmallows out into the water for him to come closer.  Who knew they liked the fluffy treats?  We went further into the park and took a walk along the shoreline in an area where there are jetty's; they call it the bathtub.  It is an area where people snorkel during the day.  Then we walked over a hill and what a sight.  You could see lights of the town over the shoreline.  We looked for ghost crabs.  These guys are funny looking.  They are as white as the sand and all you can see are their black eyes as they scurry along the white surf.  Audrey was beyond tired and needed to get to sleep so we returned home and went to bed.

Remember its all in the atmosphere, right Beth?
