Making our way to the Lake of the Ozarks.  We found Kansas to be a very pretty and a very under rated state.  Kansas City is a very clean and manicured city.  Didn't see one piece of trash or graffiti while traveling through on the interstate.  Got to spend some extra time at the filling station for various reasons (learning curve).  Fuel is $.10 a gallon cheaper here than in Colorado....nice surprise.  We took the scenic route to Osage Beach and found ourselves in towns where people would stare at us due to the size of the RV.   How is one to make it if you are from a town named Tightwad?  Is abundance even a word in this town?  I am certain the street names were Lack Lane, Need Street and Want Circle.  Narrow roads, one lane roads and old bridges made for some interesting navigation through some areas.  Stopped at the Dairy Queen across from the school in Windsor.  You would have thought a space ship had landed by the looks we received.  The kids and I went and ordered some "cool treats" when we were told by the 100 year old lady "the kids should be in school!"  They go to summer school here. Some people here are still getting around by horse and carriage.  Are we in Pennsylvania or Missouri?  We found our way to our temporary home in Osage Beach and began to setup camp.  The number of things that became opportunities were reminiscent of the movie RV.  Brake sensors in the PT are on, drives okay but ABS sensor won't go off, air conditioning not working, water issues (yes, more than one),etc.  Just to name a few.  But most of them were all worked out while the kids and mom jumped into the pool to cool down. Went to Backwater Jack's for dinner on the water's edge.  Great food (deep fried green beans, Fried potato salad), nice atmosphere, entertainment for the kid's (feeding the 25lb carp off the dock) and reasonably priced.  A nice evening.  Looking forward to tomorrow's adventure.

Tightwad
Hi guys...Wow!! what an interesting start and journey you are having. I'm wondering what the t shirts from Tightwad were like. Did you get the history of the town? Loved your commentary...I think there might be a book deal in the making. I intended to get a call in to you before you left to wish you a magical journey. I'm thinking a nice treatment would be Good. Sounds like Karen and the kids are having a great time...and that you, Jeff are getting all the work experience. Enjoy...keep the pix and word coming!
Big Hug,
Peg
