I've been here in Somaliland for about a week now and so much has happened so fast. I've met a few artists (my kinda folks) and will meet many more in the coming weeks to hopefully do some work with them. Somaliland and Somalia have so much history! Caves covered in hieroglyphics, ancient ruins in many places and stories migration from Somalia and the greater Horn of Africa to Egypt ...later becoming Pharaohs! It's a lot here and I want to learn more... understand this place that I come from. And I will.

This photograph of Obama's Restaurant was taken in the capital city of Hargeisa. Everyone loves Obama, why can't we love him at home?!? I was shocked to see such a negative reaction when Obama won the Nobel Peace Prize right in his home... honestly lots of people from the international community were too! I do believe that Obama united the country like no one in history but the divide seems to be growing... and fast. The world celebrated when he won and although I don't agree with everything that has come since, I do believe the good outweighs the bad and that he's doing a helluva lot better job than bush EVER did! Including improving America's image abroad although this division makes us look foolish.

Back to Somaliland... it's a beautiful place with beautiful people. I look forward to learning Somali so that I can express myself to others and I will. My family is going great and I'll share much, much more soon.

Until then...

You are so right! There are so many ignorant Americans that are praying for Obama to fail!!! But....Obama still has many Americans and the world for that matter rooting for him to succeed in making the US and the world a better place!!!!

Why must an ignoramus from the Somali diaspora cling to British colonial boundaries. Somalia is one nation, one people, one religion. If you wish to come back with these ridiculous notions of separation then we do not want you. Stick to being an American and continue your love of Obama. Quite frankly, Somalia doesn't need any more sell-outs!
