Pretty interesting day today. Got up early to do my washing then was planning a day trip first to Juifen which is a small town in the moutains that part of the movie spirited away was based on this winding street and then upto an old goldmine. Couldnt get a train til 12 with a reserved seat so tried to go back to the modern art museum to retake some of the pics i lost but its closed til after i go so im afraid that for my memory only. The weather today has been so bad. Cold and pissing it down from when i woke up until now. Most of the streets was kind of undercover tho was a really nice place the views were great i bet on a nice day they would have been really good. Brought a glass glow in the dark tortoise. There are loads of handycraft shops was tempted by this leather clock in the shape of a fish skeleton but they wanted 60 quid for it. Tried all the local delicacies as usual. Prawn balls, taro balls and several other kinds of balls. Just picked the busiest place and the food was excellent as usual. There were these things that were like icecreme inside of jelly. Got a little sample of one but was too cold to buy any. Also visited a traditional tea house but wasnt really in the mood for tea then a theater where there was a free 2 hour show by chinese magicians. The music and lighting guy needed to be shot and most of the tricks were just trick props but one of the magicians did the best shadow puppet show with his hands i recon ill ever see. After about 3 or 4 hours there i decided against the gold mine stuff as it was all outdoors. Just got back to the hostel trying to decide if i should go for the famous dumpling restaurant or "modern toilet" where you eat icecreme shaped like poo out of a urinal.
