Where I stayed
Well we've been on the road now since the fifteenth of Feb and its going well so far! Its me and the three girls (which I suppose is anymans dream (or nightmare) depending on how you look at it! I think its working out great. We have a great big four man tent generously donated to us by Mike and Simon and thats our house for the forseeable future. Our car is a great big four litre monster (1989 Ford Falcon station wagon) named Stanley (after our favourite boxed wine! The air con doesn't work and on days when its fourty plus in the shade it can get kinda sweaty in the car. We have been to the Hunter valley wine region where they make Jacobs creek, Lindemans and Mcguigan wines among many others. We went on a wine tasting trip and got very drunk! Although I still dont think I can tell good wine from the cheep stuff ( which can be a blessing). The next stop we made was a small tourist town called port macuaire which was nice ( nothing much else was newsworthy except Lynn thought the beach was the most beautiful beach she had ever seen. Byron bay was the best place so far. We stayed in a kinda hippy comune place called "The Arts Factory". Which was full of krusty backpackers and all those ejits who think of themselves as world travellers , who all have the same boring stories of where they have been E.G. 1. Where are you from? 2. Where have you been and then theyu launch into where they have been! Assholes! Some people think that they are soo interesting. I especially hate hippys. they are fools of the highest order. In this day and age there is no excuse for bad personal hygene. Washing your clothes and hair is a good thing. I also hate people who have been to Thailand on their way who wear fisherman trousers and linen tops all the time. W8nk$r$! Byron bay is nice though if not a bit too cool for school. I'd say ten years ago it was genuinely laid back but now I think its just trying too hard. The beach was fantastic and it was mostly a young persons place. There is a small town nearby called Nimbin. In 1973 Nimbin ( a small one street town) played host to a huge rock festival called the Aquarious festival. Hence in 1973 the hippys came but they never left. These days the entire town is a mecca four a fist year college student. Its basically Australias' answer to Amsterdam. Its a really wierd place. Old hippys are worse then young hippys cos they should know better by now. Nothin looks stupider then someone the same age as my parents wearing clown clothes smoking a big fat joint. Shame! Grass is still illegal there though and there is a big police station in the town a few doors down from the Hemp bar! Go figure! well times running out here
