This morning I had to wake up early to catch the 6 am ferry from Korcula to Split. I bid farewell to Frida again and I was off on my 3 hour journey. My plan was to go up to the city of Zadar and use that as a base to explore the national parks of Krka and Plavicte. After being on the bus for about an hour and a half with no air conditioning, I decided to stop in the middle, right next to Krka and spend the night in a town called Siebenik. I found an apartment with a nice Italian couple and was on my way to the park. Krka is famous for its waterfalls and rivers and it did not disappoint. Once you leave the coastline of Croatia, you are met by lush green forests and mountains which were a nice change from all the beaches. The park had a huge network of streams and rivers that all connected at the final falls. Raised wooden pathways were constructed around the park that allowed you to walk over the water and check out the scenery. There was crystal clear ponds everywhere, filled with fish that you feel like you can just reach in and grab. After about an hour of walking through the forest and streams, I reached the final waterfall. The Krka waterfall was amazingly beautiful because it has about 17 steps down to the bottom and it has green moss throughout it. Everyone in the park was lounging around the bottom and swimming and after a hot hike, I rushed in to join them. It was really cool to just sit in the cool water at the base of the falls and just relax for awhile. This was really my first day to myself for my whole trip, and it was a nice break.

After I was done swimming and exploring the falls, I headed back into town and checked out the old city by the sea, which was actually very nice. Exhausted, I called it a night early, saving my energy for the city of Zadar tomorrow.
