It has only been a day and I'm already in love.  I knew there would be a lot of plant and animal life here but I couldn't have imagined such a beautiful place.  It's pretty humid but since we are at such a high altitude it's not unbearably hot.  Apparently Wilson garden, which surrounds the house we are staying in, is the largest botanical garden in Central America!

On a run I saw an agouti which was awkwardly adorable.  There are lots of toucans that enjoy the trees near the house.  We got a tour of the garden and saw dwarf pineapple plants, bamboo, fig trees, and other incredible plants.  Basically this is a safe haven for birders and botanists.

Meals are always enjoyable because the food is divine and the various residents of the station interact.  I have met an Auduban society, researchers, and world travelers.

Today was only our first day in the field but we were excited to try out some of our gear which includes boots, jungle pants, field shirts, and deet bug spray.
