After 2 long days of driving we have finally made it to the coast!
We arrived into Dar es Salaam in the early evening and had to make our way across town during rush hour. Fascinating to see all the hustle and bustle with people coming and going and all the open air markets selling mostly fruit and vegetable but you could also find anything else you might possibly need.

With our truck being so big and with large windows we often attract attention and for the most part people have been friendly and waving and wanting to get our attention. It was not the case in Dar es Salaam. People were definitely looking but it was a very harden stare and very few offered friendly waves. Often we got rude gestures or the finger.  While we were stopped for a very long time at an intersection, we almost had some vendors throw bananas and tomatoes at our bus because some of the people were taking pictures of them although they had been warned not to.  More of an awkward moment then a scare one because we didn't drive away anytime soon, but a good reminder that we are not always welcome….as we often think we are.

Tomorrow we catch a ferry to Zanzibar!
