Back in Bangkok we have been tying up our loose ends - in both senses of the phrase. After getting over the epic train ride from Chiang Mai and also getting over the not so epic but just as emotional 'revenge of the dodgy orange juice' we set about the novel experience of Christmas shopping in Bangkok. Tough if none of you want stick on dreads, fishermen's trousers, or any juggling paraphernalia - you'll learn to like it. D completed his course of fittings of his shiny new whistle and is now all set for the party season, and E has been clothes and accessories buying like crazy, although seeing as we're coming back to drizzle, howling winds (and what?, about 5 degrees?!), she'll prolly have to wait 6 months before being able to wear it! We've done the full range of Bangkok consumer experiences from enormous "bling bling" designer malls (we left pretty sharpish) to shady deals outside the 7-eleven (he left pretty sharpish when the rozzers tipped up).

Our bags are packed and laden down, even after donating our crappy old worn out clobber to a nice old dear who's probably going to try and sell it on to some other poor travellers. In an hour we're getting on the bus and heading to the airport. We have had an amazing time of it, blundering our way around seventeen countries in the last nine months, but we are ready to call it quits (and so's our bank account) and can't wait to see our families and chums. A special shout has to go to mr&mrs mullets, with whom we have shared some amazing times and loads of larffs (Cheers lovelies!). In some ways time has flown by, but when we look back at everything we've done it seems like we must have been gone forever. One thing that we do know for sure is that we will never holiday the same again - package deals, pah! Bundling onto the bus with the locals is far more enjoyable and interesting (if not a little dusty and noisy at times) and in all the places we've been the country with the worst public transport system is in fact the UK!

So this'll be the last shout from us, hope you've enjoyed keeping up with our ramblings - we also hope you are all ready to sit through a slide-show of our photos, we've got loads to show you!!

Put the kettle on - We're coming home.
