Our arrival in Malaysia marked the half way point in our 9 month "round-the-world" journey. We were really happy to be in Kuala Lumpur again (our first visit was 2 years ago). Not only did it give us a chance to see one of our good friends Lisa again, but we got to eat all the amazing Malaysian and Chinese dishes we've been missing since we left Toronto! As an added bonus, this time Lisa's mom Jenny was also there with Gary, so we all got together and had a feast! I now have a new favourite dish - barbequed stingray! After a couple of days of good eatin' we had to leave for Thailand, but we'll be returning to Malaysia in October/November.

Well, we haven't really done anything since Egypt to deserve another beach vacation, but we got one anyways! Coming into Thailand by overnight train, we also had to take an overnight boat from the mainland to the islands in the Gulf of Thailand where we spent a week and a half. We pampered ourselves with massages on the beach, dinners on the beach, staying up all night at the full moon party, and I got in plenty of diving too. We had a really great time and can definitely see how it's easy to get sucked into staying on the islands!
