After an early start, Jan a work colleague, friend and boss and myself were dropped off at the Art Centre where we met up with the RAW Travel leaders (Mike, Craig & Leane) and fellow trekkers who all appeared between 25-35 and most looked to be quite fit.
We headed off for the drive to Apollo Bay in a couple of mini vans. On route we stopped at a lovely local country café with coffees waiting. After the early start the Latte went down like a treat. The group introduced themselves. Many were doing the walk to raise money towards their charity. How great is that! Here I was was on my own challenge.
In Apollo Bay, we grabbed some lunch while the vehicles were being refuelled. Over lunch Matt told us that he was raising money for Peter Mac (http://www.petermac.org ). Matt is a Leukaemia survivor since age of 5 and has had 3 relapses. He has gone through the works, chemotherapy, marrow transplant etc. and now he is doing this to raise money and I guess a personal challenge. Matt is very inspirational.
