¡Hola!

So, despite the fact that the past week has been marked by fevers and 11 hour bus rides, I am feeling refreshed and enthusiastic about returning to work. This sense of renewal can only be attributed to one thing....RECONNECT! The in-service training/volunteer reunion was held in the beautiful tourist region of Mindo, about 2 hours outside of Quito. The volunteers, their counterparts and all our old friends from training (language facilitators, technical trainers, APCDs) were there. We shared stories, complained, reminisced and drank some beers (everyone minus yours truly of course). Oh yes, and there was some training involved. We attended workshops and discussed potential projects...unless you were me, in which case you spent much of the first 36 hours in bed with a fever. I did make a comeback the final day of the conference. Good timing too. Omnibus 95 showed off some impressive talents that night (solo guitar performances, original song compositions and a fabulous "Rebelde" dance routine...if you don´t know the group, look it up, you´ll be hooked. No translations necessary).
And now, I am back in southern Ecuador, ready to work and hoping that the next six months brings even more than the first! Hasta luego.
