Where I stayed
I'm really in Redmond Hill, GA heading into Savannah tomorrow. (I've camped out in the lobby of Best Western - though I'm staying at Motel 6 - free wireless). I've spent the last week with family and now finally have time to update the blog as I'm on my own again.
I finally got over being sick but it took over a week, though I was feeling better after a few days on antibiotics. Mom and I went to the De Soto National Memorial in Bradenton (just north of Sarasota). It was beautiful and a great history lesson. I also stopped in (I couldn't help it) at the Bargain Barn - the first stop of all donations heading into the Goodwill shops. Though not as good a haul as last time - I still did great. My theory is that the week before Christmas and New Years is the best time to go for 3 reasons: the Dominicans and Haitians go home (they are like vultures in grabbing up stuff), the end of the year is approaching for tax donations, and finally, the crokage factor is higher in the winter.
I also picked up a travel partner in Sarasota - he's some pig - thanks Lynn. He will be appearing regularly.
I've been extremely fortunate with the weather - it's been practically perfect. While a bit steamier than I'm used to, it hasn't been miserable. The day we went to the Everglades, it was partly cloudy with a great breeze keeping us cool and bug free.
I have now spent the last 1 1/2 hours uploading the pics and making comments - I'm tired. I have more to add, but will put in my next entry. Until then - good night from Georgia!

hello in florida
Carroll, The pig is a perfect addition to the travelog. It (can't tell if it is a he or a she) looks very happy to be your companion. Does your pig have a name? Your pictures are amazing and make me jealous. Signing off for now as Envious in Vista, De
