Stopped for afternoon break in Erie, PA and drove out to the Presque Isle State Park - a HUGE park!  It's a big peninsula out in Lake Erie, just off the coast of the city of Erie.  It was a beautiful beach - about 6 miles long.  We walked for about an hour and just as we returned to the car, it began to rain.  Erie appeared to be a beautiful city - very nice homes, lovely parks and well maintained.

We needed to get back on the road to get to Cleveland tonight, and the further west we drove, the harder the wind blew and harder it rained.  Poured in some places!  We haven't seen rain like that in many months - so it was stressful driving with the increase in traffic as we got closer to Cleveland.

There was only about 43 miles of highway that we drove through Pennsylvania - tucked in between New York and Ohio, along the south shore of Lake Erie.

We finally had to get off the interstate and out of the rain/wind, and found a motel in a little town called Mentor, just east of Cleveland on I-90.  We're going to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame on the Cleveland waterfront tomorrow, before heading west to Ft. Wayne, Indiana.

JR and GR on

I am betting that the hotel you stayed at was one of your favorites - Motel 6!! With any luck at all perhaps it was even smoking optional.
