I spent the next day in Monterey.  On the docks at Fisherman's Wharf, there were lots of sea lions (or seals?) waiting for  fish.

On Diane Linn's recommendation, I went on a morning whale watching tour with Monterey Bay Whale Watch Center.  It was wonderful!

There was a dog on the boat!

In the harbor, we saw pelicans and seals.

Shortly after getting out to shore, the guide spotted killer whales!

The guide suspected from the way the whales were moving that they were going to meet up with another group of killer whales, who had just made a kill.  This was in fact true - more whales, all swimming together.

And, birds were in the water, eating the intestines of whatever animals the whales had just killed.  Whales won't eat the intestines.

After the whale watching, I went to the Monterey Aquarium, where I saw jelly fish, sea horses and other wonders.  The Aquarium was fantastic.

Hi, I would love to use one of your photos of the lone killer whale surfacing in one of my stories on my website. I am a storyteller/writer and offer my stories for free reading on the internet. I don't sell anything, just the joy of sharing my stories to interested readers. I have a story of a friend's encounter with a killer whale off the coast of Vancouver Island. I would greatly appreciate using one photo on that story page.
My website is presently http://www.inspiringstory.weebly.com I will keep my eye open for your response in my own email account or on this site.

Thanks
